  • When your child is in the first stages of puberty, her body is going to go through some pretty big changes. One of those changes is that her breasts will start developing! When this happens, her breasts may start feeling a little tender and raised. It can be a little sore but that's all par for the course and a sign that her period is just around the corner.

  • Growing pubic hair: Just after breasts start to form, you'll probably start noticing your child growing pubic hair. Because everyone's body is different, there's no way to predict exactly when you'll start growing pubic hair or when your period will start.

  • Mood swings are a normal part

of growing up. In fact, they happen throughout puberty and can last into your 20s! Knowing if it's just a mood swing or their period knocking on the door can be pretty tricky, but here are some ways to tell: - How long does it last? If you're having mood swings for more than two days, it might be your period. Mood swings usually only last for a day or two.

  • vaginal discharge (white or yellowish fluid) is usually a sure sign that your first period is on its way. You may want to start using pantiliners to protect your underwear. Your period should start in the next few months!

If your child develops all of these stages of puberty a period is likely to happen at any moment, expect a period 2 years after your child's FIRST signs of puberty!
